3 Women in October and 3 Signature Styles
Ferko's Fine Jewelry
When the seasons change, so does the way we dress. We pull sweaters over T-shirts, put our swimsuits away, and make room for a new rotation of clothes. But we don't always think about how the season changes the way we wear our jewelry, too. October is when that shift really starts to show. The layering necklaces that sat against sun-kissed skin all summer take on a different look over a turtleneck. And suddenly, the jewelry we've been wearing on repeat has a few new ways to be worn.
We spoke to three women about the pieces they're wearing this fall, the stories behind their favorites, and how their personal style finds its way into every look.

CLAIRE: “More Is More, Less Is a Bore”
Claire works as an editor for a fashion magazine and naturally she follows every new trend worth knowing. Her jewelry collection is an ever-evolving mix of old favorites and new discoveries.
How do you style your jewelry this fall?
I’m definitely not a one-piece-and-done person. I’ll layer necklaces, stack rings across a few fingers, then add something unexpected. This fall, I’m especially into pieces with more character and I’ve been leaning into maximalist styling. Lately, wearing a diamond pinky ring with colorful earrings, a few cuffs and bangles over the cuffs of a shirt is my favorite styling trick.
What's your formula for layering necklaces without making the look feel too busy?
I usually wear gold necklaces with different lengths, then play with contrast. I wear a fine chain next to a pendant, or a couple of charms against a bolder link. This way each piece has its own place. I also like wearing necklaces over clothes, especially when the neckline is high. It changes the whole look of a sweater. Also mixing metal colors is very trendy right now and I’m very into that too. It may seem subtle but I find it a very playful styling trick.
Are you a stack-your-rings person, or do you have one favorite you rarely take off?
Definitely a stack-your-rings person. I like mixing slim stackable rings with more distinctive designs and wearing them across different fingers, including my pinkies. A gold pinky ring can be a statement on its own.
How do you keep your jewelry collection feeling fresh?
I'm always looking for new ways to wear what I already own. Right now, I'm interested in adding more charms to my collection. I like that you can start with a simple chain or pair of hoops and build on it over time. You can change the combination whenever you feel like it, so even your old favorites can feel like new again.
LAUREN: “I Like My Jewelry with a Little Backstory”
Lauren is a mother of three and of course has a full calendar. She prefers jewelry that fits into her routine without requiring much thought. Some pieces earned their places in her jewelry box just because they are beautiful, while others did because they remind her of the people and moments she holds dear.
What does your everyday jewelry rotation look like?
I have a few pieces I reach for almost automatically. My diamond studs are a constant, and I love diamond hoops and huggies when I want to spruce things up. I tend to choose everyday fine jewelry that works with everything, whether I'm taking the kids to school, meeting a friend for lunch, or heading out for dinner. In the fall, that usually means finding pieces that work just as well with a cozy sweater as they do with my usual shirts and dresses.
Do you have a piece that reminds you of someone you love?
Of course! Didn’t they invent initial jewelry exactly for that reason? (She laughs.) I believe wearing someone's initial is the simplest and best way to keep them close. I'm also drawn to charm jewelry because I have a friend I go on summer vacations with every year. She always picks out the best charms to remind me of something unforgettable from that trip.
Are there certain symbols you find yourself drawn to?
I’ve always had a soft spot for diamond heart necklaces, and I like the idea of an infinity necklace as a reminder of someone I want in my life forever. I’m also fascinated by the phases the moon goes through and how it can affect our lives. Somehow, my youngest kept this in her mind and got me a moon necklace. So yes, I’m also into the moon motifs. (She smiles)

Are there pieces in your collection that mark a particular chapter of your life?
Absolutely. Engagement rings and wedding bands naturally carry a lot of meaning. Also a few pieces I bought for myself mark important moments, too. I’ve always loved tennis bracelets and necklaces because they’re timeless and work just as well with everyday outfits as they do for dressed-up occasions. So when I turned 50, I bought myself both. A birthday gift for me, from me.
ALEXANDRA: "Professional but Make It Chic”
Alexandra has built her career on knowing what matters and making thoughtful decisions. The same goes for her wardrobe. She believes in buying less, choosing well and investing in quality.
How would you describe your approach to everyday fine jewelry?
I’ve learned to be pretty selective about what I buy. I’d rather invest in a beautiful pair of diamond studs or a dainty diamond necklace I’ll wear for years than buy something just because it’s trendy. I look at the quality, the design, and whether I can see myself wearing it ten years from now. When a piece gets all three right, I know it’s worth it. Especially in fall, when I start reaching for blazers, knitwear, and heavier fabrics, I appreciate jewelry that works with all of them without feeling tied to one season.

Which pieces do you find yourself wearing on repeat, whether you're at work or off the clock?
My tennis bracelet is one of those pieces that makes me glamorous, even when the rest of my outfit is quite simple. I feel the same way about tennis necklaces. I also love thin bangle bracelets, especially with a watch. They look classy together. I like jewelry that gives me a little extra confidence, whether I'm walking into a meeting or meeting friends for dinner.
Do you have a signature piece that feels distinctly yours?
I’d say personalized jewelry, especially initial rings. I like the idea of wearing something that has a detail that makes it personal to me. It doesn’t have to be flashy or mean something to anyone else. I just like knowing there’s a reason I chose it.
Have you ever bought a piece of jewelry to mark a personal or professional milestone?
I think it's important to mark your own milestones. We spend so much time working toward the next thing that it's easy to move on without acknowledging how far we've come. Funny enough, though, I haven't actually bought something for myself. (She laughs) My best friend beat me to it. She gave me a clover necklace last year when I got promoted.
Claire, Lauren, and Alexandra each have their own way of wearing jewelry this fall. What about you? Are you still wearing your summer favorites, or have you found yourself reaching for something different?
