August gives us mixed feelings. Summer is at its peak, but the first hints of a new season are already in the air.
So that's exactly what this month's Edit is about: making the most of the season while welcoming what's next.
We start with a young cook long before he became the Anthony Bourdain the world would come to know, then head straight to the fall runways, because some of us shop early. From there, we speed some time in the Hamptons and in Bodrum at the height of high summer. We get into the hair conversation everyone is having in this heat and close with the jewelry question we hear most this time of year: what do you wear to an outdoor wedding in August without melting or overdoing it?

Now, A24's upcoming biopic Tony takes us back to the summer before the world knew his name. Anyone who has read Kitchen Confidential remembers the chapters set in Provincetown, where a young, directionless Tony lands a summer job in a Cape Cod seafood restaurant.
The film tells the story of that pivotal summer and the chaotic restaurant kitchen that would help shape the man he would become.
We're very excited to watch the origin story of the misfit who would go on to change the way we travel, eat, and see the world.

Fall Fashion Preview
Fall may still be weeks away, but fashion has already moved on. Thankfully, a few of the season's biggest trends fit right into high summer.
Chocolate brown is replacing black as the color of the moment, while suede is making an early appearance through bags, loafers, and belts rather than heavy jackets.
Relaxed tailoring remains the silhouette to know. An oversized blazer over shorts or a slip dress feels just right for late dinners, rooftop drinks, or any evening that stretches well past sunset. And yes, animal prints will reign through the rest of 2026. For now, wear them in small doses: a scarf tied around a ponytail, leopard ballet flats, or a statement bag.
The beauty of these early fall trends is that they offer new ways to style the pieces already hanging in your closet, making the transition between seasons feel effortless.

There is a reason why the Hamptons is every New Yorker’s favorite.Just a couple of hours from the city, it offers everything city life doesn't: quiet mornings, hydrangeas spilling over white fences, seafood that makes you wonder why you live anywhere else, and beaches where nobody seems to be in a hurry.

Where to Swim: Main Beach in East Hampton for classic Hamptons scenery, or Cooper’s Beach in Southampton if you're after wide stretches of sand and calmer water.
Where to Eat: Seafood at Duryea's in Montauk, Carissa's Bakery for flaky pastries and excellent coffee, and Nick & Toni's for dinner, a Hamptons favorite since the ‘80s. For something more casual, stop by Sagaponack General Store for excellent coffee, good food, and stuff you didn't know you needed, or Round Swamp Farm for its excellent bakery, market, and local produce and prepared foods worth taking back to the house.
Bodrum
Bodrum is summer with iconic low-rise, whitewashed houses, azure and turquoise water, long lunches that become sunset drinks, a restaurant and night life scene that seems to reinvent itself every season.
Who You Might Run Into: Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and any number of international jet-setters who make Bodrum their summer playground. Yalıkavak is the obvious place to start, where celebrities arriving on superyachts spend the afternoon moving between luxury boutiques, waterfront restaurants, and bars.
Where to Swim: Maçakızı for the quintessential Bodrum beach-club experience. Lucca Beach for a livelier day by the sea, where swimming comes with music, food, and a distinctly social atmosphere.
Where to Eat: WAM by Karma in Demirbükü for a Mediterranean menu inspired by the Aegean and the western Mediterranean. Karma in central Bodrum for seasonal Aegean cooking, a beautiful setting, and an evening that can easily stretch into music and drinks. And Orkide Balık for classic Turkish seafood, a Bodrum institution that has earned a place in the Michelin Guide's selection.
Let’s Talk Summer Hair
If there is one thing summer refuses to cooperate with, it's our hair. Humidity, salt water, chlorine, and relentless sunshine all seem determined to undo whatever you've achieved in front of the mirror that morning.
The consensus among stylists is to stop fighting your hair's natural texture and work with it instead. At the beach, nourishing leave-in conditioners and lightweight oils help replenish the moisture lost to salt water or chlorine. Back in the city, lightweight hydrating serums, a proper heat protectant if you're still reaching for hot tools, and anti-humidity treatments do the heavy lifting against heat, humidity, and everything the streets throw at your hair.
There is something undeniably beautiful about hair that moves naturally. A little texture, a little movement, and suddenly the whole look feels much more like summer.
What to Wear to an August Wedding: Jewelry Edition
High summer wedding season means one thing and one thing only: heat. And it changes every rule, even the jewelry one because pieces that feel perfect indoors can suddenly feel heavy after an hour in the sun.
The trick is choosing one hero piece and letting everything else support it. If your hair is up or your neckline is high, let your earrings take center stage, balanced with a delicate necklace or none at all. If your dress has an open neckline, a fine diamond pendant naturally becomes the focus, paired with small diamond studs or small hoops. A tennis bracelet is always a welcome addition, adding just enough sparkle.
The gold color matters, too. Yellow gold comes alive in late-afternoon light, while white gold and diamonds catch the last rays of the evening just as beautifully. The best choice is often the one that feels most like you rather than the one that matches your dress perfectly.
Then there is the comfort factor. An outdoor ceremony means hours on your feet, walking across grass or sand, and a reception that runs well past sunset, so anything that needs constant adjusting is working against you. Choose pieces secure enough to forget about, and let them carry you from the ceremony straight through the last song.
