How It's Made: The Ferko’s Fine Jewelry Creation Process

The Ferko’s Fine Jewelry quest to create elegant, quality and timeless pieces begins with our multi-stage creation process.

At Ferko’s Fine Jewelry, we take great pride in the craftsmanship behind each piece. That’s why we pay meticulous attention to even the smallest details along our jewelry creation process. It’s especially important to continually perfect our process since all our pieces are made-to-order and crafted in-house.

As a family owned business with a long lineage of jewelers, our creation process has been passed down over generations and refined every step of the way. Today, we combine the latest technology with time-honored techniques to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and superior quality.

Our tight knit team is hands-on from A to Z. So how exactly do we create our jewelry?

Step 1: 3D Modeling

Once we’ve received and processed the order, the first step is to design a 3D rendering of the jewelry piece. Using 3D CAD software, the digital rendering will prioritize the functionality first and later the aesthetics.

Since every Ferko’s piece is made-to-order, the 3D model will account for all the details behind the necklace, earrings, bracelet or ring. This includes sizing and any other specific requests.

Step 2: Casting

Once the digital rendering is complete, it’s then printed into a 3D wax model. It’s then casted—melting away the wax and replacing it with gold, which then dries into the shape of the jewelry piece.

From here, it’s about refining the structure of the specific piece. Before moving on, we always check the casted piece to ensure the metal structure can functionally support gemstones. After this, it’s pre polished and filed.

Step 3: Stone Setting

Once the casted piece is ready, we handpick each individual diamond or gemstone that’s set into the jewelry to ensure it’s up to standards. The stones are carefully placed into the mounts and another quality control check is done.

Step 4: Final Polishing

The last step in the jewelry creation process is the final polishing. We always make sure that the gold is polished to perfection, which gives it the best shine possible. After it’s polished off, we also check to make sure there are no loose prongs, that the gold is in perfect condition, and the sizing is correct.

Any final additions and personal touches are added during this stage, such as engravings. Once that’s done, we give it one final inspection before shipping it off.
